I built the cage myself

Hi Reader,

There's something nobody tells you when you leave the corporate world to start your own business.

You can work incredibly hard. Build something impressive. Land the contracts, grow the client list, show up every day with professionalism and skill - and still feel, somewhere deep down, like you've just built yourself a new cage.

One you designed yourself. Which almost makes it worse.

That's where I found myself a few years into running The Courage Factory. From the outside, it looked like everything I had set out to create. I had the perfect blend of coaching, facilitation, and consulting. I was working with global organizations, sitting in C-suites, delivering programs I knew how to deliver brilliantly. The money was coming in.

And I dreaded it.

Not every day. Not dramatically. But there was this quiet, persistent feeling that I had followed someone else's script for what success was supposed to look like - and done it really, really well. The problem was, it wasn't my script.

So I made a decision that terrified me. I walked away. I handed over active proposals I'd been building for months. I stepped back from partnerships that had taken years to build. I let go of the income certainty that B2B brings and stepped into something far more volatile - and far more mine.

It was hard. And I did it. And what I've built since, from deep within - aligned with who I really am and my natural gifts - is exactly where I'm meant to be.

In this week's podcast episode, I share that whole journey. The ways I thought I was creating independence but was really just building another workplace I didn't want to show up for. The tough choices I had to make to honor myself above any income or monetary goal. And what actually shifted when I stopped outsourcing my knowing and started trusting my own inner authority instead.

This is the most honest I've been about my own path - and I recorded it because I know so many of you are somewhere on this same road.

And if something in this lands for you - if you're building something that looks right on paper but doesn't feel right inside, or if you're tired of following frameworks that were never really built for you - I want to tell you about something.

The Inner Authority Lab opens on June 9th.

It's a four-month group mastermind for mission-led founders who are done outsourcing their knowing, done waiting for permission, and ready to start leading from within. If you've already seen a level of success in your business but it's not quite feeling how you hoped - book a call - let's talk.

Hit reply and tell me - have you ever built something that looked like freedom but felt like a cage? I'd love to hear where you are on this.

With love,

Amanda
