Going deep instead of wide (and what it's costing me)

Hi Reader,

A season of growth requires you to be ruthless about where you focus your time and energy.

I’ve always been one to try and do it all. Build a business, spend time with friends, travel the world, have uninterrupted time with my husband, and write a book? No problem.

Except, of course, it is a problem. As any woman (or man) will tell you — you can have it all. Just not all at the same time.

One of the biggest lessons of my life has been knowing where to trim back, and when. And how do you even make that choice?

It’s an ongoing struggle.

I’m multi-passionate. I love the diversity of creative projects, time with friends, experimenting and exploring. But I’ve come to realise that if I give in to every whim, I end up with a whole lot of unfinished projects and half-expressed thoughts.

So in this season of life, I’ve chosen to go deep instead of wide.

That doesn’t mean the ideas stop coming — they never do. Dreams keep presenting themselves to me. But the commitment I’ve made to myself about where my time and energy goes now holds stronger than even the most enticing temptation.

It also means some of my relationships are suffering. The close friends and family I’d ordinarily visit, have dinner with, or call on a random Tuesday evening aren’t getting those calls. Or those invitations.

Because right now, my focus is on a new creative project that requires a lot of me to bring it to life. I’m not quite ready to share it with the world yet, but I can tell you this: it involves writing, and it will take the better part of the next six months.

And boy, is that hard sometimes. So much of the time I feel like a bad friend, or sister, or daughter — like I can’t be fully present with the people I love. All while knowing this is just a moment in time, and that the payoff for discipline right now will be big.

And so I dance in the middle of that discomfort: creating, supporting my clients, shape-shifting my business, and showing up for those I love without giving away too much of myself in the process.

So let me ask you: Have you ever found yourself in a season of wanting to retreat within, while still feeling the pull of the outside world calling you back? Hit reply and tell me what that felt like for you — and how you managed it. I read every response.

And in the meantime, here’s what I can share with you (or remind you of!):

1) The Inner Authority Gameplan is officially out in the world — and the first readers to try it have already reported back great results! The Gameplan takes the swirling thoughts inside your head and makes them easy to understand, while supporting you with your immediate next step. It’s an incredible tool (if I do say so myself!) and costs only £9.

(Please note: you’ll need to sign up for a free Claude account if you don’t have one already.)

2) The Psychic Salon returns to London on the evening of September 11th! This is a long-awaited event after the success of the first Psychic Salon back in 2024. Expect an incredible evening of panel discussions with psychics, shamans, and mystics, a live experience to explore your own innate abilities, and a live group reading.

Early Access tickets are just £55 — the price goes up at the end of the month, so if you’ve been thinking about coming to London, this is your chance!

3) My latest solo podcast episode is all about integration. We live in a world obsessed with learning and growing — but what does it actually take to bring what you’ve learned into your day-to-day life? If you’ve ever finished a course, a book, or a retreat feeling transformed, only to find yourself back in old patterns two weeks later, this one’s for you.

I am so grateful to each and every one of you for being here. Thank you for your support and love — and for continuing to learn and grow alongside me.

With love and appreciation,

Amanda
