I said it out loud 🥁

Hi Reader,

Last Thursday I stood on a stage in a long brown lace gown, stiletto heels I hadn't worn in London since almost the day I moved there, my drum on the floor beside me and a microphone in my hand.

Then I opened my mouth.

"Welcome to the Psychic Salon. I'm Amanda Parker. I'm a psychic, writer, and oracle."

I had been forewarned by my fellow speakers not to shy away from claiming that word. Not to hand the "expert" title over to them and hide behind the role of host. To take my place on that stage amongst them.

My voice was shaking. I could feel it. I'm certain the audience could feel it too. But I never lost my words.

Let me back up.

The Psychic Salon was two years in the making. The first one happened in September 2024, at a beautiful little studio in Clapham Common. This one was on 11th September 2026, at the Century Club in London. Exactly two years on.

The venue mattered.

The Century Club is elegant, high-end, corporate-adjacent. Not the kind of room that's used to seeing a woman walk in with a drum and clear the energy with agua de Florida.

That's exactly why I wanted it there.

I've spent years bridging worlds. The founder and the seeker. The professional and the mystic. The woman who can hold her own in a boardroom, and the woman who has always been the one people quietly asked about their dreams and their signs.

Standing on that stage and calling myself a psychic, out loud, in a room like that, was one of the biggest identity moments of my life so far.

The run-up was brutal. My eyes went foggy. My brain felt like sludge. I called friends constantly. My husband became a sounding board, my closest friends my advisory committee. I recognised every single one of those symptoms as resistance. So I kept going.

And then I stood up there and I said the word.

And nothing bad happened.

Actually, something good happened. My heart swelled. The room held me. At the end of the night Rachelle came over to me and said, "We need to do this again. I'm happy to come back in three months."

I'm still sitting with what it means to have claimed that word, in that room, out loud.

What's the word you've been circling but haven't yet said out loud?

The one you keep almost claiming, then handing back to someone else. Softening. Hiding behind another title.

You already know what it is. You've probably known for a while.
