⚡ What I learned from bullying myself to achieve more

Hi Reader,

My whole life I felt behind. Like I was never doing enough just to meet my own ambitions. Like I needed to do more just to keep up with the world around me. I was late, slow, uncertain. I couldn't keep up with the pace of what I wanted to create – especially in a world where so many others were moving at lightning speed.

And yet – there were moments when I, too, was the creator moving quickly. When ideas flowed through me and out into the world with no concept of time – one, after the other.

And then, in the moments where everything was still. Quiet. I would still attempt to push. Bullying myself into working harder, smarter, faster. To achieve more.

But that's not how this works.

What if instead of putting yourself under constant pressure to achieve, you actually gave yourself permission to do LESS.

Energy ebbs and flows. We each have our own rhythm. And that pace changes as often as the seasons. We are cyclical beings. Our ancestors would live aligned with the rhythms of the Earth – sleeping more in the dark long days of winter, and hunting and gathering in the welcoming warmth of spring.

We haven't changed that much from that time. We only think we must defeat our rhythm because technology enables us to do so.

But what if, rather than trying to do more in less time, we actually allowed ourselves to do less. We acknowledged the period of slowdown and spaciousness. We granted ourselves permission to get rid of the things on our "To Do" list.

What if we invited less in to fill up our time and allowed magic to seep its way in through the spaces we created.

What would be possible then...When magic comes in?

This season, I invite you to join me in erasing things from your to do list and creating a new kind of spaciousness in your life you may have never experienced before. This is an invitation to experiment with doing less - not more.

For those of us who are used to always trying to squeeze in more, it will feel like a total shift in your way of being. But I promise it's an experiment well worth undertaking.

What will you take off your list first?

Wishing you a lovely slow-down.

With love,
Amanda

Hi Reader, Sometimes it takes coming back home to remember not only who we are, but how much we've grown. I'm writing this from my hotel room in NYC, just a block from where I worked my first job and seven blocks from my very first "adult" apartment. I'm an hour away from my childhood home, surrounded by the people, places, and memories that shaped me. And something magical is happening - I'm remembering who I am. The girl who protected slugs from her classmates. Who had a favorite tree in...

Hi Reader, I'm excited to share a wild new episode of Don't Step on the Bluebells with you. My conversation with coach and wilderness guide Caitlin Cockerton reveals how reconnecting with nature can profoundly heal not just our inner landscapes, but transform our approach to leadership, creativity, and personal growth. Caitlin's journey from growing up on a Canadian farm to corporate consulting and finally returning to her nature-based roots demonstrates how we often come full circle to...

Hi Reader, I've been thinking about you during these shifting times. We're in a time of great change - a period of uncertainty and transition that has left no stone unturned. There's so much upheaval in our lives - from governments that feel like they're crumbling, to old ways of being that are simply falling away before our very eyes. It can often feel like nothing is stable, there's nothing to hold onto anymore. Our view of who we are and what we're meant to do in this world feels upended....
